MS SQL Server to Snowflake Migration Specialist

Years of Experience: 5+ years experience in MS SQL Server (2012–2019 preferred).
3+ years hands-on experience with Snowflake.

1. Migration Planning & Assessment

Assess existing MS SQL Server 2016 database architecture
(schemas, stored
procedures, views, functions, jobs).

Perform database inventory and complexity analysis.

Identify migration risks and dependencies.

Define migration strategy (Lift-and-Shift, Re-architecture,
Hybrid approach).

Prepare detailed migration roadmap and timeline.

2. Schema & Code Conversion

Convert MS SQL objects (tables, indexes, constraints, views).

Rewrite stored procedures, functions, triggers into Snowflake-
compatible
SQL.

Optimize SQL transformations for Snowflake performance
model.

Handle data type mapping and compatibility issues.
3. Data Migration

Design and implement bulk data migration strategy.

Use tools such as:
o Snowflake SnowSQL
o Snowpipe
o Azure Data Factory / Informatica / Matillion (if applicable)

Ensure minimal downtime and data integrity.

Perform validation and reconciliation between source and
target.
